I’m very excited to reveal the winner of the ORDINARYSTRANGE Care Package Raffle…but before you play the video below I’d like to say a few things.
Thank-you so much for subscribing to this blog. If you’re new, “Welcome!” If you’re an old friend, “Hello, friend.” You might be wondering, “Omar, why do you want subscribers?” My fake answer: “I’d like the number of subscribers to reflect my current weight.” My real answer, “I hope to one day write a book and I’d like to have a group of people to journey with me through that process.” Your feedback, questions, and interactions will help shape what and how I write. All along I started this site as a sketchpad for unrefined thoughts, raw ideas and wide-eyed observations. I also enjoy knowing there is an audience to this little Variety-hour show called, ORDINARYSTRANGE. Let me pause for a moment. Did I just admit to wanting to write a book?! Ah! Trust me when I say that I feel the weight of not only telling you this dream of mine but also all the steps necessary to getting there! I digress.
Your support over the years as a “core audience” is invaluable to me (it was special to share with you some of my most treasured moments of 2012) because I know that when I post something, at least 65% of you will read it, 5% will comment and 2% will share with others what I wrote. I don’t take that lightly. In fact, I’m very proud to have that favour with you. Even to the 35% who don’t read all my posts, I’m so glad you’re here.
Here are a few things to look forward to in 2013: Different “guest writers” who will share their minds and heart with us, interviews, stories, continued observations on music, culture, faith, and my attempt to give you some fun and cool downloads.

Yes, congrats to the winners! I always look forward to your posts, usually reading them on my coffee break at work, or like this morning over a bowl of oatmeal and coffee at home. I’ve shared your posts with a few friends and even my mum sometimes, and Nick always hears about it after work. We love it! Thanks for valuing your subscribers so much, and we all look forward to reading a published version someday!! Much love from VanCity!
