I once took keyboard lessons. What makes me sad about this memory is that my parents were on a very tight budget, but after many pleas, my Mom gave in and found a way to pay for a private teacher. Every Wednesday evening I would walk to her home in our neighbourhood, pretend to like the cat that always greeted me at the door, and sit for 30 minutes on a bench over an electric keyboard as she taught me how to read notes.
To this day, I’m able to play a portion of “Ode To Joy” with an immeasurable amount of confidence.
I’m fascinated by music. It’s something that roots me to reality while also elevating me to the heavens. I’ve fooled myself into thinking that though I lack the skill of playing music, I’m gifted in convincing people what’s worth listening to.
So, in that spirit, I’ve curated 35 songs for you to enjoy this week. Like you, I’m always in search of music that makes the mundane seem a little more enjoyable.
