SONG FOR JUNE 2011

In honour of Aboriginal History Month I’m showcasing a vibrant and relevant song by  mulit-talented musician, singer, activist, educator, visual artist, (I’m going to run out of space describing this incredible woman’s accomplishments) and philanthropist. Buffy Sainte Marie is no stranger to the music scene and if you can believe it she is currently pushing 70! “Her concern for protecting indigenous intellectual property, and her distaste for the exploitation of Native American artists and performers has kept her in the forefront of activism in the arts for forty years.” Did you know she also made regular appearances on Sesame street for  5 years in the late 70’s? What hasn’t this lady done?!
